Wine Country

In celebration of my birthday, last weekend Andy and I headed west to San Francisco to tour the city and make our way north to wine country.

My friend Sarah had made the recommendation to check out Healdsburg a quaint town in Sonoma County about a half an hour north of true Sonoma, but well worth the drive.

While there we checked out La Crema Tasting Room, Dry Creek Vineyards, and J Wines.  La Crema was downtown, and our first stop of the day. It was relatively quiet when we were there which was nice because we had the place to ourselves. I'm personally a huge fan of chardonnay, and La Crema is my go to, so getting to visit the tasting room and trying a few additional wines of theres I haven't had, was pretty exciting. I ended up snagging a Rose' and Chardonnay.

J Vineyards & Winery, was a great capper for our first day in Sonoma. The grounds are absolutely stunning, and the staff is extremely knowledgable. They offer a few different tasting experiences, we opted for the basic tasting room, but if you're up for snacks, or bubbles they've got you covered. Speaking of bubbles, we ended up with a fabulous Brut from this place. Can't wait to have the girls over for brunch to use it.

Day Two of Sonoma landed us at a vineyard called Ram's Gate. This wasn't on the initial itinerary but Andy saw it from the road, and thought it looked cool as it sits on a hill. We stopped in, and it did not disappoint. This was actually probably our favorite vineyard of our trip. The building itself is gorgeous, the service was spot on, and the variety of rooms to sit in were fabulous. We ended up outdoors with a gorgeous view of the vineyard and pond. But, every room was stunning.  If you go to Sonoma, be sure to check out this place. Oh and the wines are pretty good too! i'm a little bummed that I didn't grab a bottle, but at this point of the trip was already up to 9. So hopefully they can ship!
